I've found that people want us to change for them but wouldn't be willing to change themselves for us. All we really ask is understanding. I'm still trying to make more people aware.

Just a heads up; I DON'T want to be 'cured' of my autism. I feel its made me a stronger and better person. Even when I felt it made life too hard at times, its a huge part of who I am... :) I suppose its better not to label myself too much as autistic, but it really is a part of me. Life would be too different if I didn't have autism.
