Hello - Louise

Hi Louise, I saw the "hello" stamp and I thought of you! One thing you might want to know about English is that we are one of the only languages that don't have masculine and feminine nouns. We really don't have a name for that but the a/an thing that we have, are called articles and we use "a" for nouns (naming words) that start with a constantint (I know I spelt that wrong). We use "an" for nouns starting with a vowel sound. Meaning, A, E, I, O and U. If you ask an English teacher they will tell you a vowel but they don't realise that the word "hour" starts with H (which is not a vowel) and is pronounced with a U. Basically you don't say the H and you use a/an with the letters you do say. Uniform is another word. You say "y" at the beginning but the word starts with you. For this you use the article "a". I hope you understand this. I might start a blog on Blogger about the English language since I am a native speaker (meaning it's my first language and mother tongue).
